Citytour

We will pick you up at your hotel at 9am and walk through the historic Old Town. You will learn about politics, religion and the social interaction of the Vietnamese in their narrow houses. We will show you a maze of old, small alleys that is probably unique in all of Asia. How does it live here? What do Vietnamese buy for dessert at the market? How high are the land prices? Join us in the heart of Hanoi and learn something about the Vietnamese soul. Following the Vietnamese motto, "the best food is on the street", we will have a traditional "Bun Cha" (grilled meatballs in a fish soup with lots of crisp fresh herbs and salads). Very healthy - and please don't worry about ice cubes in the green tea.
Then visit the Military Museum for a 10-minute cinematic presentation of the historic Vietnamese victory over the French at Dien Bien Phu, May 7, 1954. Vividly-patriotically presented on a large papier-mâché backdrop. Hear background on the Vietnam War in front of a wreckage installation of downed U.S. planes and information on why Vietnamese hardly care about the Vietnam War anymore.
Walk past the mausoleum. There short stay at Ba Dinh Square with some background information about the personality cult around "Uncle Ho", why he has to lie in a glass coffin and why the socialist government needs him so urgently at the moment...
And what a big German architect's office has built there. From there it is not far to the Temple of Literature. Here you will learn about Confucius and his influence on Vietnamese society today and why a man has more say in Vietnam than a woman....
